Todd Swaim

Todd grew up in Western Nebraska where he studied wildlife from an early age. In his job as a rancher and working at a game preserve, he also was able to be among the wildlife he loves.

In 1988, he moved to Cody, Wyoming because he had always been fascinated with the beautiful mountains and wildlife there. Every year, he would spend countless hours in the mountains on foot and horseback studying wildlife. This helped him capture the true anatomy and movement of the different animals he carves in wood.

Todd is a self taught sculptor, his sculptures all begin as original woodcarvings. He has been carving wood for 21 years and it's only since 1995 that he began casting a select few into bronze.

He was born with the ability to make his hands carve what his eyes and mind see. He loves taking a simple block of wood and turning it into an animal, as realistic as possible. Todd says, "The only problem carving in wood is that your can't make mistakes. I think this teaches you to be a better sculptor."

He prides himself in the fact that he will sculpt any subject of any size and is always looking for a new challenge. Todd has a history of great achievements, winning many "Best of Shows", "People's Choice", and "President's Choice" awards.
