The inspiration for "Rippin' The Dawn", comes from two memories.
The first is the landscape where I grew up hunting around this place. My parents property adjoins the northern end of this waterhole known as Larson`s Flowage. The second is the waterfowl and the experience in which the name is based...Rippin` the Dawn.
What a thrill it is to experience the arrival of the northern flights of bluebills. They drop through the clouds with their wings set...singles, doubles, small groups and large, all cutting through the sky with their jet engines on.
(Notice the inclusion of a mixed bag of canvasbacks...one of my favorite ducks).
