New and Exciting!

The new year has started and so much has already happened. Here is a new piece to start things off. The title is still in flux, but it is a lovely Guenon Monkey based on a little resident of the Cleveland Zoo. It will make its show debut, along with many other sculptures, at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston, SC,Feb. 12-14. Come see me there! (www.sewe.com)

The giraffe is visited by 2 yellow billed hornbills, an unlikely friendship. One of the hornbills has his most prized possession, a lizard that he wishes to share with his special friend. Giraffe looks on in amusement at the friendly offering. Doesn't hornbill understand that giraffe doesn't eat lizards?

This small giraffe sculpture was inspired by a young giraffe napping in the sun at the Denver Zoo. I was amazed to see it curl completely around and rest its head on its own back. This became an inspiration for the larger sculpture "The Offering"

It seems I always have a cheetah sculpture in my mind waiting to be created. The challenge was a single point of contact for one foot. It was fun to experiment with a more contemporary look using a black granite base. "Speedmaster" is an intense piece, full of movement.
