Morning on the Madison

The South Fork of the Madison is moose country. From its humble start, as dripping springs along the Madison Plateau, to its quiet end in an arm of the Hebgen Lake, this stream is the backbone of a thriving ecosystem. These two bulls have encountered a pair of Canadian Honkers on their morning stroll. Around the next bend, it may be an otter-the next a pair of Sandhill cranes or an osprey breakfasting on trout or whitefish. Many kinds of critters call this home but none are more regal than the bull moose whose tracks can be found on every sandbar along the South Fork.
